Painting for me isn’t just about earning a living, which is obviously essential, it’s also about escape. When I’m painting I can be totally absorbed in what I’m doing. That’s part of the joy. I can travel virtually anywhere in my imagination, even back in time. recently I’ve been re-visiting some of my London experiences by painting The Embankments in London, and London street scenes, while remaining in the relative comfort and safety of my studio in Cornwall. I know how fortunate I am to be able to do this especially now, when so many of us are locked down.
